2021 promises to be a great year for video games. The new PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles will reach their cruising speed, while the PC and Switch will continue their momentum. In this post, we will look at ten games to keep an eye on that were announced for this year.

UPCOMING VIDEO GAMES

In this post, we have selected ten video games to watch and announced for this year. The list is not exhaustive, as many more titles are planned, but these are the ones you are bound to hear about. Also note that many games from 2021 are not yet announced. They are logically not included in the list.

Horizon Forbidden West – PS4, PS5, 2nd semestre 2021

As a direct sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, Fordidden West will put us back in Aloy’s boots for a new adventure. Heading to the coast of California to discover another side of this post-apocalyptic world.

This title promises to bring us back to the same formula as before, still with a gigantic open world. One of the new features will be the possibility to discover underwater environments. A future pillar of the early life of the PS5.

Halo Infinite - Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, late 2021

Halo Infinite was to be THE launch title for the Xbox Series X, the one that was going to sell consoles. But faced with a catastrophic presentation in July 2020, 343 Industries decided to push it back to 2021 in order to improve it.

We can expect a Halo pure juice, with some improvements in the formula that will this time look towards the open world. A game much awaited by the fans and which will serve as the emblem for the Series X… one year after its release.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart - PS5, current 2021

The new episode of the franchise will be a PS5 exclusive. It will be a real eye-catcher with graphics worthy of an animated film. A first gameplay sequence published by Sony had moreover put everyone in agreement on this point.

This time, our two acolytes will travel between worlds. We’ll be treated to a very classic, but effective action adventure game, just like the previous episodes.

Humankind - PC, April 22, 2021

The French studio Amplitude is tackling the Civilization license head on with this new 4X. It will be a question of making its civilization evolve from the Stone Age to the space age and to make it survive the turmoil of history.

Here, Amplitude reuses known strings, but profoundly changes the rules. For example, we will not have to choose a predefined civilization, but create our own with elements at our disposal. A game that promises to be rich and engaging and should delight fans of the game.

Resident Evil Village - PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, current 2021

The seventh episode of Resident Evil inaugurated a new formula: first-person shooter gameplay. Resident Evil 8 Village will remain in the same vein. But this time, the Louisiana bayou is abandoned for the Alps.

Resident Evil Village promises larger, more open environments, but also beautiful graphics worthy of next-gen consoles. A frightening adventure to be reserved for an informed public.

Deathloop - PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, May 21, 2021

Developed by the Lyon-based studio Arkane (Dishonored, Prey), Deathloop introduces a new universe inspired by the spy films of the 60s and 70s.

In this game, the hero is stuck in a time loop and will have to eliminate his rivals to achieve his goal. A curious gameplay that promises a lot.

Hitman 3 - PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, Stadia, Switch, January 20, 2021

The next installment of the adventures of the most famous bald man in video games is coming soon. As in the previous episodes, the aim will be to assassinate a target in an open world as discreetly and efficiently as possible.

The player will have a lot of possibilities at his disposal. He will have to navigate through levels full of details to be exploited to achieve his goals. A game that promises to be excellent once again.

Far Cry 6 – PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, Stadia, current 2021

The august Far Cry license will return for a promising new opus. This time, we leave Montana and its rednecks for an island located in Latin America: Yara.

We can expect the same gameplay as the previous parts. The series is mostly known for its charismatic villains. This time, it is Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, The Boys, The Mandalorian) who assumes this role. He plays the dictator of Yara who will have to be removed from power.

New World - PC, Spring 2021

This is an important game for Amazon Game Studios, which is playing its future with this MMO. After the disastrous release of Crucible in the summer of 2020, the studio must win its audience with this project.

This is a buy-to-play MMORPG (so no subscription) and focused on PVP. The player embodies a 16th century settler who arrives in a mysterious and magical land. A game awaited at the turn by MMO fans and by those who want to see if Amazon Game Studio will be a developer to rely on in the future. As a reminder, Amazon is also developing a Lord of the Rings MMO, planned for 2022 and which will have to accompany the release of the series.

God of War Ragnarok - PS5, current 2021

God of War is one of the most important video games of the PS4 era. Its sequel, subtitled Ragnarok, will have to carry this legacy. But one can imagine that Kratos’ shoulders are strong enough for that.

We don’t know anything about the game. Sony only published a teaser indicating that it was still being developed by Santa Monica Studios. It is currently planned for this year, without any further details.

Here are some of the most popular games you should try, if you didn’t yet!
