The PS5 will finally be available in black! The SUP3R5 modders have indeed developed a black version of the Sony console. To develop this limited edition, they were largely inspired by the design of the PS2. Not surprisingly, a matching DualSense controller is proposed. The console and controller will be available for purchase from January 5, 2021.
With the design of the PS5, Sony decided to take a risk. Exit the matte black color worn by previous generations, the Japanese group bets on a white dress. To reassure fans disappointed by the color, Sony quickly promised to launch a black color, but also many other special editions. Unfortunately, the company has not yet communicated a release date.
For the most impatient gamers, SUP3R5, a modding collective recently born on Reddit, has customized a PS5 based on the design of the PS2. “Our retro-inspired PlayStation 5 consoles start life as a new PlayStation 5. The SUP3R5 team carefully applies the retro-inspired design to each unit by hand, a tedious process that is carried out with the utmost attention to detail and quality,” said SUP3R5 on its official website.
A black PS5 in limited edition at 649 dollars
To accompany this black PS5, SUP3R5 offers a black DualSense controller in the same style. As SUP3R5 states on its website, the operation to transform the accessory irremediably voids the manufacturer’s warranty. You will therefore no longer be covered in case of a problem. This is not the case for the PS5, which does not have to be disassembled during customization. On this side, the warranty should therefore continue to apply.
SUP3R5 will open for business on January 5, 2021. The PS5 Digital Edition Black is priced at $649. For its part, the PS5 with disc drive climbs to $749. Finally, the DualSense will be displayed at the price of $99. Only 304 consoles will be produced, warns SUP3R5. Deliveries will begin in late spring 2021.
